ACORN Today: Another Whistleblower And More Obama Connections

So, what is happening in the world of ACORN? ACORN knew of fraudulent voter registration forms, ex-employee of Project Vote says

A former employee of an affiliate of ACORN testified Wednesday that the community group now in the national spotlight knew that most new voter registration forms it had gathered were fraudulent.

“Forty percent was OK,” said Anita Moncrief, referring to the number of bona fide registrations that officials at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now believed was acceptable.

Moncrief was the star witness Wednesday in a Commonwealth Court case brought by the state Republican Party and others who are asking a judge to step in and prevent voter fraud on Election Day.

For nearly two hours, Moncrief, 29, gave a scathing, though at times vague, assessment of ACORN and its efforts to go into battleground states and help mostly minorities and the poor register to vote for the first time.

The group, she said, barely trained its workers in how to register voters properly, and would fire employees if they did not meet a quota of 20 new voter applicants daily. And, if they were caught committing fraud, the group “threw them under the bus” as scapegoats to take all the legal blame, Moncrief said.

Prepare to have your life investigated and destroyed, Anita. That bus coming at ya is going to be like something out of a Mad Max movie. All while those on the Left will say “eh. No big deal.”

And, let’s connect the dots to Obama and his campaign on page 2

Moncrief also testified that, in November 2007, she was given a massive database of Barack Obama donors who had already reached the maximum that they are allowed to give to the Democratic presidential nominee. Her task was to cull it for potential donors who, though prohibited from giving any more to Obama, could give to ACORN.

Someone ought to tell Joe Biden about that. John Fund breaks down Obama’s connects to ACORN, for the Liberal Impaired.

Meanwhile, ACORN is being accused of interference with 2nd Amendment Rights in New Jersey. Sounds just like Obama. Cute, disingenuous commercials and speeches aside, Obama does want to curtail your gun rights. His votes and past talk on the subject speak volumes.

Washington Post Takes On Barry’s Credit Card Donation Issues

Woah! How did this end up not only in one of the main U.S. papers, but, on page A2? Obama Accepting Untraceable Donations. Rather innocuous headline, but, the story basically says Obama is playing games which, as has been said across the right-o-sphere many, many times, are allowing him to rake in millions and millions without any checks on the front to make sure the donations are real, are authorized, are from real people, and are from U.S. citizens

Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor’s identity, campaign officials confirmed.

Faced with a huge influx of donations over the Internet, the campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged. Instead, the campaign is scrutinizing its books for improper donations after the money has been deposited.

All in all, the WP does soft pedel the issue, mentioning a few problems, then mentioning that McCain has had a few problems with on-line donations, too (because fair and balanced, ie, responsible journalism, must be practiced when something looks bad for The One). Of course, how much of an affect this will have is unknown, since I have yet to see anyone on the Left, even those who call themselves moderates, decry this practice by the Obama campaign.

I was about to write, before I took a break in writing this post to get ready for work, “I suppose we wil find out about all the illegal contributions sometime in 2009 or 2010, which will be way too late, and the money will already have been spent,” but, based on the recent history of the Obama campaign and his supporters attempting to stop, and, in some cases, stopping conversation through intimidation tactics, lawsuits, threats, investigations in to peoples lives, etc and so on, I doubt there will be any investigation released.

Could The NC Ballot Lead To Fewer Presidential Votes?

Welcome to North Carolina

North Carolina voters are more likely than those in other states to cast ballots in national elections without making a choice for president.

Unlike many states, a straight-party vote in North Carolina does not cast a vote for president. A ballot expert says the split makes it more likely that voters, especially new voters, will leave their polling places failing, by mistake, to vote for president.

The split between presidential and straight-party votes has brought the state national attention this year because the margin between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain is expected to be close, and North Carolina’s electoral votes would be a prize for either candidate.

And, you know what is coming next. If Senator Neophyte loses, he and his loyal minions will claim some sort of election fraud, hijinks, voter suppression. You know the story and playbook by now.

In an analysis of election returns, Justin Moore, who received a graduate degree in computer science at Duke University, found that 3.15 percent of voters in North Carolina didn’t vote for president in 2000, and 2.57 percent didn’t cast a presidential vote in 2004.

Percentages higher than 1.1 percent — the national, presidential-year average — indicate a flawed ballot design or other problem, said Lawrence Norden, director of the Voting Technology Assessment Project at the Brennan Center at New York University’s law school.

Let me explain something to seethers on the Left who always see this as election fraud: when you go to the voting place, you are given a pretty piece of paper which states that if you pick to vote the party line, that does not include the presidential candidate. This was explained by the people at the table who gave the ballots out, too.

Furthermore, it says it on the freakin’ ballot! If people cannot take the time to read the directions on the ballot, as well as on a pretty piece of paper, and verbally, then, quite frankly, they are too stupid to be voting for the position of dog catcher (which Obama doesn’t have the experience for, either), much less President. Of course, most of these same people don’t bother to take the time to learn about the candidates either, beyond empty platitudes. Which is why I despise GOTV and mass registrations. It turns elections into hand counting at a wet t-shirt contest.

Oh, Look, An ACORN Fraud Witness

From an RNC press release

A former Washington-based ACORN employee will testify next week that the community-organizing group did “minimal to non-existent” checking to make sure voter registrations were authentic despite claims otherwise, the state Republican Party revealed in Commonwealth Court on Thursday.

Anita Moncrief worked with Project Vote and ACORN in Washington from 2005 to 2008 and has not testified against the groups before, according to state GOP attorney Heather Heidelbaugh.

Moncrief called the Pittsburgh-based Heidelbaugh on Tuesday about testifying, the lawyer told reporters outside the courtroom, with “inside information” that will “shed light” on ACORN’s activities.
Heidelbaugh previewed some of what Moncrief is expected to say in a Commonwealth Court hearing, the ostensible intent of which was to expedite a discovery process for the state GOP to look at the rolls of voters ACORN has registered.

It was the warm-up act to next week’s hearing, when a judge will decide on a lawsuit filed by the state GOP that ACORN is endangering the election’s fairness while the Department of State, led by Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro Cortes, is not doing enough to help local election bureaus combat registration fraud.

Paid for by the Republican National Committee. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

All these registration fraud issues by ACORN, and other Democrat organizations, still begs the question: how many fraudulent votes come from the fraudulent registrations? Will the RNC force an investigation after the election, which is the only real time to find out, or will they woose out, as usual, when the Democrats and MSM start calling them mean and petty?

Ex-Workers And John Boehner: What’s Up With ACORN?

Senor Boehner

House Republican leader John Boehner on Wednesday urged President Bush to block all federal funds to a grass-roots community group that has been accused of voter registration fraud.

“It is evident that ACORN is incapable of using federal funds in a manner that is consistent with the law,” Boehner, R-Ohio, wrote Bush, saying that funds should be blocked until all federal investigations into the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now are completed.

He also wants an investigation into ACORNS links to Fannie Mae. But they are all little darlings, I thought!

Clifton Mitchell helped register nearly 2,000 voters for the community group ACORN. But not one of them actually existed.

“I regret it. I paid the price for it,” he said.

Mitchell was convicted last year and spent nearly three months in prison. He’s one of the few ACORN workers convicted of voter registration fraud.

Mitchell said ACORN threatened to close the office if he and his team didn’t meet their quota to register 13 to 20 voters a day. So, without consulting their supervisors, he said, they came up with a plan.

“We came up with the idea: Let’s make fraudulent cards. I tell my crew, ‘I don’t care how you get ‘em, just get ‘em,’ ” Mitchell recalled.

They took addresses from homeless shelters, used fake birthdays and Social Security numbers and took names from baby books to create voters out of thin air.

OK, so, he and the others involved were just trying to make money and keep the office open. Did that translate to fraudulent votes? Probably not. And this all begs the question of how many of the fraudulent registrations lead to actual fake votes. But, there is another problem with the registrations, and that is public perception.

There are many people who do not follow politics like we do, believe it or not. I would probably not be off base to say that most Americans of voting age do not pay that much attention, except what they are fed in the news while reading a paper or watching the evening news. But there is little consideration of what they are being fed. And that makes a difference.

If you saw everyone buying tickets for a particular movie, might you not think “gee, it must be super! I think I will get a ticket and go see it, too.” When the average American reads and hears that people are registering as Democrats in a much larger proportion then as Republicans, might they not think “gee, the Dems must be doing something right. I think I might vote Democrat this time.”

How’s That Voter Fraud In Ohio Looking?

It’s looking super! Glitches fill Ohio voter rolls

In Hamilton County, 17 people are registered to vote from riverfront addresses south of Mehring Way - places with street numbers that would put their homes somewhere in the Ohio River.

Another 46 voters are registered at addresses that would put their homes in the middle of the Paul Brown Stadium parking lot, or at the riverfront project known as The Banks - which hasn’t been built.

An Enquirer analysis of more than 8 million Ohio voter registration records found a litany of quirks, inconsistencies, errors, duplicate registrations and other problems with little more than two weeks until Election Day.

Thousands of voters appear on registration lists twice - some as many as six times. At least 589 registered voters - mostly in Franklin and Cuyahoga counties - were born in 1991 or later, which puts them under the legal voting age.

Voters are registered at post office boxes, office buildings with no residences, police stations and even park benches.

Some may be fraudulent, election officials say; many have more innocent explanations.

Sure, some may be innocent. “Gee, I somehow wrote my address as Paul Brown Stadium.”

Yes, people can be honestly registered multiple times in the database, but will not vote more then once. Often, they do not even know. I myself had been on the roles twice for the 2006 election, once at my new address, once at my old. I had them remove the old one. But, many of the multiple registrations in Ohio feature different social security numbers and slight changes of names.

In some cases, it is a simple misspelling of the address, or dropping numbers. This can’t really be blamed on the people registering (usually), but on the people who enter the data.

So, is it all fraud? No. The question remains, how much of it is? How many will vote multiple times? How many are registered felons? How many are registered in other states?

Surrender Monkey Friday: There Is No Lefty Voter Fraud

surrender monkey voter fraud

The Surrender Monkey has a thrilling up his leg today. He loves that a blogger who has whined about election fraud and similar issues for years is now doing his damndest to label all the ACORN issues as no big deal and defend all the registration issues by ACORN. And he is doing it in the same rag that featured a story calling for Bush’s assassination if he won in 2004. Give a big hand to today’s featured surrender monkey, Brad Friedman!

So where’s the “voter fraud“?

Fox News, and its Rupert Murdoch-owned print brethren, the New York Post, continue to bang the GOP’s phony Acorn “voter fraud” drum, but as far as I can tell, they’ve failed to come up with a single incident of any actual voter fraud committed by those dastardly “left-wing extremists”.

Yes, Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter has committed voter fraud, but neither of the Murdoch outfits seem to report on that, even as they go wall-to-wall with misleading reports claiming that the community organization, Acorn is committing massive “voter fraud” on behalf of the Democrats.

OK, starting out with a bit of Fox News and Ann Coulter derangement. Unfortunately, Brad, if you take a look around, there are quite a few other news outlets investigating. In particular, take a look at Ohio sources, which are not amused by all the registration issues and Sec of State Brunner’s unwillingness to perform her job on the matter as laid out by federal law.

So, as it’s now been revealed that John McCain himself was a keynote speaker at a 2006 Acorn rally in Florida, where he declared the group’s volunteers to be “what makes America special”, and as I’ve been going back and forth with commenters on my “Republican Voter Fraud Hoax” piece earlier this week at the Guardian, nobody seems able to show me an instance of any actual voter fraud committed by Acorn, or even anybody who registered via Acorn.

And when McCain learned how shady the organization was, he disowned them. But, what Brad is doing is playing games: all the shady registrations haven’t voted yet, so, it is not voter fraud. Case closed!

Yet, why are there so many problems with ACORN, Brad? Rogue agents? Sounds like the group, which receives quite a bit of money from the federal government and the Obama campaign, should police itself better. Yet, many of the bad registration form seem to make it through to the State’s.

And why have so many bad registrations as it is? What do they plan on doing with them? What’s the point? That never really gets explained.

For someone who has been so worried about the all types of election fraud for years, who made a living with conspiracy theories about electronic voting machine tampering, who sees people having to wait in long lines as “voter irregularities,” etc and so on, he sure looks away from an issue that could put Democrats in a bad light, eh? So much for the high morals of the Left, who want to stop all election fraud and irregularities.
