Thank You Senator McCain!

Dear John McCain, a Great American. Thank you!

American Flag

Thank You John McCain!

Senator John McCain, you are a Great American. You gave your youth and devoted your life for the good of this country. You are one of the very few American politicians that we could know would put country first. We would sleep better at night knowing you were at the helm.

Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what kind of REAL change could have been brought to Washington. Thank you for your proven record of cleaning up corruption and courageously doing the ‘right thing’ in spite of the political risk to yourself. Thank you for your honor, courage, integrity and grit. You should be President. I truly believe you would be among the greatest of our Presidents.

You inspired many of us to stand up and fight, to work hard and to put country first. You reminded many of us that America still produces real heroes and real patriots. You gave many of us hope for a better future for our country.

As the mother of an American Soldier, I thank you for caring about our military and understanding the sacrifices made by those young men and women that so many in our country have put out of their minds. You, more than anyone, have understood how badly we need and should appreciate that thin green line that stands between us and danger. Thank you for never forgetting them. Thank you for never giving up and never giving in.

Many of our nation stand proudly with you.

Thank you and God bless you.

Beth, a Blue Star Mother

I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight with me.

Fight for what’s right for our country.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

Fight for our children’s future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.

Thank you, and God Bless you.

Obama talks. McCain acts.

Gateway Pundit noted one particular paragraph in Barack Obama’s campaign speech in Berlin, Germany on July 24th. Here’s the quote from Obama’s speech:

Now the world will watch and remember what we do here - what we do with this moment. Will we extend our hand to the people in the forgotten corners of this world who yearn for lives marked by dignity and opportunity; by security and justice? Will we lift the child in Bangladesh from poverty, shelter the refugee in Chad, and banish the scourge of AIDS in our time?

(emphasis mine)

Wonderful words. Socially conscious words. However, they’re words. Obama offers only words. John McCain offers words, too, but he backs up those words with concrete action. He has already literally lifted a child in Bangladesh from poverty. I wrote about Bridget McCain a few weeks ago. Bridget McCain is the adopted daughter that the McCains lifted from poverty from Mother Teresa’s orphange in Bangladesh.

Here’s the story from Gateway Pundit:

In 1991, John and Cindy McCain adopted a beautiful young girl from Bangladesh.
The Wall Street Journal reported:

(I)n 1991 Cindy McCain was visiting Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh when a dying infant was thrust into her hands. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life, so Mrs. McCain brought the child home to America with her. She was met at the airport by her husband, who asked what all this was about.

Mrs. McCain replied that the child desperately needed surgery and years of rehabilitation. “I hope she can stay with us,” she told her husband. Mr. McCain agreed. Today that child is their teenage daughter Bridget.

…(T)here was a second infant Mrs. McCain brought back. She ended up being adopted by a young McCain aide and his wife.

“We were called at midnight by Cindy,” Wes Gullett remembers, and “five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the L.A. airport wearing the only clothing Cindy could find on the trip back, a 7-Up T-shirt she bought in the Bangkok airport.” Today, Nicki is a high school sophomore. Mr. Gullett told me, “I never saw a hospital bill” for her care.

And THERE is the choice this election year. On one hand we have Barack Obama, a gifted speaker who has absolutely no history or accomplishments to back up his rhetoric. He is untried. He is inexperienced. He has a proven history of questionable associates. He has a proven history of questionable judgment concerning foreign affairs. He is all about words.

On the other hand we have John McCain - a statesman with a long history of service, accomplishments and sacrifice for our country. He has proven himself repeatedly to be a man of character, a man of good judgment, and a man of thorough knowledge and experience in both domestic and foreign affairs.

I pray that when American voters are alone in the voting booth in November, the majority will see the clarity of choice - they’ll see beyond the pop prince of words and know that action is what is needed - not pretty words - and they will vote for John McCain.

Barack Obama Promises to Make US Weak

Just when you thought it was safe to sit out this election because you don’t like everything about John McCain …. consider the alternative …..

Barack Obama Campaign Video

Barack Obama has put out the above video as part of his campaign. He actually thinks this makes sense. He’s not considered the most liberal Senator in the Senate for no reason. He will gut our military if he gets the chance. He says he will not fund future development of next-generation weapons.

Good job, Barack. Announce to the world just how weak you intend to make us. Let everybody know there is no bite behind our bark - or in your case ankle biting yap.

The college students Barack panders to should be thinking long and hard about this. They are the ones that will have to fight the war that Barack says he will invite into our homeland. Seriously, its beyond me why anyone of military age would support him. They will certainly find themselves having to defend the country as our enemies break through the gapping wholes in our defenses. They’re salivating over the very thought of it even as I write this.

John McCain Military Records Released

The Navy has released to the public the military records of John McCain. See photos and a video of McCain as well as read more about his military records below.

The way a man conducts himself in times of trial are a measure of the man. The military records of John McCain were released to the public yesterday and reveal a great deal of the character of the man who will be our next President.

The AP is reporting.

McCain, now the Republican Party’s likely presidential nominee, was taken prisoner in October 1967 after he was shot down while on a mission over Hanoi. He wasn’t freed until March 1973, after the United States signed peace agreements with the North Vietnamese. His captors tortured him and held him in solitary confinement. Still, he declined an offer of early release until those who had been at the prison longer than him were let go.

That decision earned McCain a Navy Commendation Medal. Although McCain was ‘crippled from serious and ill-treated injuries,’ he steadfastly refused offers of freedom from those holding him prisoner. ‘His selfless action served as an example to others and his forthright refusal, by giving emphasis to the insidious nature of such releases, may have prevented a possibly chaotic deterioration in prisoner discipline,’ the citation says.

The Vietcong called John McCain ‘the Prince’ because his father was the Commander of the Navy at the time. They felt they had a real bargaining chip when they captured McCain. They offered him an early release in order to use his release to demoralize the other prisoners and to use it for propaganda. McCain new what they planned to do and therefore refused their offers.

Those that think its cool to vote for someone based on race and/or gender or think they want to make a statement by voting for someone based on race and/or gender, might consider voting for someone based on character and what is best for the country. If race and/or gender don’t or shouldn’t matter, then vote for the man who is a leader, who loves the country and who has proven himself in the field of battle.

I want a President who will lead us. I want a President who I know can stand the pressure and will do what he feels is best. I truly believe that nothing scares John McCain. How could it? He has faced the devil and looked him in the eye. He has done his time in hell. What could possibly scare him now? He is a man of character and a man who loves our country. THAT matters more … so much more … than whether he is male or female or what ethnic group he belongs to.

John McCain on Iraq

John McCain
John McCain (Photo)

John McCain speaks on Iraq in a speech on April 11, 2008 at the Virginia Military Institute.

“Many in Washington have called for an end to our involvement in Iraq. Yet they offer no opinion about the consequences of this course of action beyond a vague assurance that all will be well if the Iraqis are left to work out their differences themselves. It is obviously true that no military solution is capable of doing what the Iraqis won’t do politically. But, my friends, no political solution has a chance to succeed when al Qaeda is free to foment civil war and Iraqis remain dependent on sectarian militias to protect their children from being murdered.

“America has a vital interest in preventing the emergence of Iraq as a Wild West for terrorists, similar to Afghanistan before 9/11. By leaving Iraq before there is a stable Iraqi governing authority we risk precisely this, and the potential consequence of allowing terrorists sanctuary in Iraq is another 9/11 or worse. In Iraq today, terrorists have resorted to levels of barbarism that shock the world, and we should not be so naive as to believe their intentions are limited solely to the borders of that country. We Americans are their primary enemy, and we Americans are their ultimate target.

There’s so much good stuff in this speech that I have a difficult time picking out parts to highlight. But how about this section:

“What struck me upon my return from Baghdad is the enormous gulf between the harsh but hopeful realities in Iraq, where politics is for many a matter of life and death, and the fanciful and self-interested debates about Iraq that substitute for statesmanship in Washington. In Iraq, American and Iraqi soldiers risk everything to hold the country together, to prevent it from becoming a terrorist sanctuary and the region from descending into the dangerous chaos of a widening war. In Washington, where political calculation seems to trump all other considerations, Democrats in Congress and their leading candidates for President, heedless of the terrible consequences of our failure, unanimously confirmed our new commander, and then insisted he be prevented from taking the action he believes necessary to safeguard our country’s interests. In Iraq, hope is a fragile thing, but all the more admirable for the courage and sacrifice necessary to nurture it. In Washington, cynicism appears to be the quality most prized by those who accept defeat but not the responsibility for its consequences.

“Before I left for Iraq, I watched with regret as the House of Representatives voted to deny our troops the support necessary to carry out their new mission. Democratic leaders smiled and cheered as the last votes were counted. What were they celebrating? Defeat? Surrender? In Iraq, only our enemies were cheering. A defeat for the United States is a cause for mourning not celebrating. And determining how the United States can avert such a disaster should encourage the most sober, public-spirited reasoning among our elected leaders not the giddy anticipation of the next election. Democrats who voted to authorize this war, and criticized the failed strategy that has led us to this perilous moment, have the same responsibility I do, to offer support when that failure is recognized and the right strategy is proposed and the right commanders take the field to implement it or, at the least, to offer an alternative strategy that has some relationship to reality.

John McCain Visits Gee’s Bend Alabama

John McCain visits Gee’s Bend, Alabama as part of his ‘It’s Time For Action Tour’ of America.

John McCain Gee’s Bend, Alabama (Video)

I’m LOVING John McCain’s tour of America. He has done his ‘Service to America’ tour and now he is doing his ‘It’s Time For Action Tour’ of America. He has been to all sorts of small towns, rural areas and disused/misused urban areas. He’s introduced himself to the people of those areas in intimate settings and listened to those people with an ear for the concerns of what is referred to as Middle America (fly over country). That part of America that politicians and people of power and influence rarely, if ever, visit. Those people of America that politicians and people of power and influence rarely, if ever, hear.

He gives every appearance of wanting to see and hear the people of America - not just the power brokers. I think he’s a man who truly loves his country and the people who inhabit it. We are America and John McCain seems to realize that.

He really is a different kind of candidate. I think he’ll be a different kind of President.

Cross posted at Blue Star Chronicles.

McCain in New Orleans (Video)

John McCain has been touring America as part of his ‘It’s Time For Action Tour’ and made a stop in New Orleans today. Read more about it and see a video of his speech below.

McCain in New Orleans (Video)

John McCain held a town hall in New Orleans and toured the infamous battered and impoverished Ninth Ward. He toured New Orleans with Louisiana’s new Republican Governor, Bobby Jindal.

Beth C. mentioned in an earlier post that we have a good friend who attended that town hall meeting and has posted a first hand account of it. I hope you’ll check out that post. I also wanted to post the video above for your viewing pleasure!

McCain Visits Hope Village for Children (Video)

John McCain has been touring the United States while the democrats have been locked in a fight to the death. We posted earlier about McCain’s visit with the staff and residents of Hope Village for Children.

I thought you might enjoy seeing the video of his visit there.

Democratic Operative Attacks McCain on Age

Despite Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee Chairman and Overall Jackass, officially stating the democrats would not use John McCain’s age as an issue in the presidential race, they are. Of course, we know that Howard Dean has almost no credibility with anyone and certainly doesn’t have any control over the democratic party … but still. He really should quit making statements because when everyone ignores him and does whatever they want anyway it just makes him look even sillier than he already looks.

Steve Rosenthal is a senior democratic operative and he has started a website for the specific purpose of making fun of McCain’s age. The website is called ‘Younger than McCain’ (and no I’m not linking it). Right now it has one video that lists things that are younger than McCain. As you can imagine, they are coming up with stuff like the Golden Gate Bridge, Coke in a can and the like. Har-de-har-har

Keep in mind that Rosenthal is a former political director of the AFL-CIO and executive director of America Coming Together, an organization specifically set up to provide soft money for the 2004 presidential race. He is now a partner in The Organizing Group.

This comes right after the 75-year-old Saboteur John Murtha made his statements about John McCain being too old while he was introducing Hillary Clinton to speak to a group of union members.

The site is not funny as Mr. Rosenthal states its intended to be. Instead, it comes across as mean-spirited, negative and juvenile. Pretty much in line with the democratic party as a whole.

The democrats hope to make a contrast between John McCain and democratic nominee in waiting Barack Obama. They think that the 30 year age difference between the two will be striking and will work in their favor. I agree, the difference between the two WILL be striking, but not because of the age.

John McCain is not afraid of anything. Barack Obama is still whining that he got asked some difficult questions at a debate last night and is refusing to do another debate. He’s taking his ball and going home :pout:. Yes. There’s a huge difference between the two. The more they both talk the more obvious the differences are.
